The Goring Plan
The Goring Neighbourhood Plan
In early 2015, South Oxfordshire District Council published further proposals as part of its evolving draft Local Plan about the numbers of new homes that should be built in Goring in the next 15 years. In response, the parish council resolved that a Neighbourhood Plan should be prepared for the parish. This relatively new process, introduced by The Localism Act 2011, enables communities like ours to have a real say in what happens to their environment including the number, location and type of new homes.
The final version of this Plan (subject to any further revisions subsequently being required by the independent examiner) is currently subject to a six-week “publicity period” (another period of public consultation) organised by SODC which closes at 5 pm on 7th June 2018. It will then be submitted for review by an SODC-appointed independent examiner whose approval is necessary for the Plan to progress to a referendum of all registered voters in the parish. It is anticipated that the referendum will be held in the autumn.
The Goring Neighbourhood Plan website tells you all you need to know about the plan and how you can make your views count. Comments should be addressed to SODC at http://survey.southandvale.gov.uk/s/goring/?m=30218380hmdot or firstname.lastname@example.org
GSAA’s committee has strongly believed, since the presentation by John Howell M.P. at our AGM in 2011, that a Neighbourhood Plan should be created for Goring. Many of the volunteers who have been involved in the various stages of preparing the Plan are GSAA members.
